New Cat or Not?

What to do …. what to do. For those who have read some of my previous posts, several weeks ago I decided to retrain our outside-inside kitty, Doofie to be inside only. It’s been a trial for all. She’s very persistent, but that’s what so I love about her! Mornings are the most difficult times when she “visits” me by walking across my keyboard! I’m worried about her mental health as I see her tail which is normally straight upright (I’ve been told that is a sign of a happy cat), now dragging behind her. My husband thinks she needs a buddy. I’m not convinced that’s a good idea. Will she feel her space has been violated by an interloper? Will she feel threaten by new paws? Anyway, we went out to our local animal shelter to “test the waters.” It’s a new facility, very snazzy. I was pleased that our community and local government care for our community’s abandoned critter population. We interacted with several potential “candidates.” I’ll admit, I’ve never done that before, so it was an odd experience. Sad in one way, but the facility is first-rate so we left empty-handed hoping and wishing for posterity for the little guys. Any suggestions out there?

I’ve seen these and thought they would be a good idea if you wanted to put it all up:

Also these types of things:

I’ve also seen pics of decks that were screened all the way in so that the cat could go outside on them.
