Cats Need Exercise, Too!
| One day last week, my very independent inside-outside cat, Doofie wandered off. Her mid-day snack sat on the counter for hours waiting for her to show up. It’s not unusual for her to disappear for a brief time, but rarely for the entire afternoon! I had just read an article indicating outside kitties have a average life-span of 4-6 years while inside live well into their teens. Racked with worry waiting into the early evening, I decided Doofie needs tighter restrictions. The next day locked inside, Doofie spent the entire day in sleep-mode pouting in her bedroom (yes… she has her own bedroom. I know, ridiculous!) The occasion prompted me to consider a diversion, thinking we need some new furniture pieces designed specially cat exercise. Since the ‘ole carpet & sisal scratch posts & cat gyms has have saturated the market, why not something more high-tech? A couple of weeks ago, one of our customers sent us a great video which prompted us to the “think outside the box.” How about a tread mill machine for cats! Perfect! Now, where is that electric plug in her bedroom? |
